COSTELLO STATEMENT ON THE SEVEN-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE SEPTEMBER 11TH TERRORIST ATTACKS

U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) issued the following statement on the seven-year anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks:

"On the seventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we remember the lives lost and their families and loved ones. We will always remember that day with sadness, but we also remember the courage, the selfless assistance, compassion and kindness exhibited, both during the attacks and in their aftermath. It is these qualities that best define us - to each other and the rest of the world - and it is these qualities that lead us forward.

"This is also a time to remember the daily contributions of our first responders - the firefighters, police officers and paramedics - that routinely risk all to keep our communities safe. Too often their daily contributions are taken for granted, and they deserve our unfailing support."
